Danielle Roelofsen

Danielle started to perform on the silver flute with a swing and improvisation band at age 11 and carried on playing in all kinds of settings in quite a few countries, learning traditional Irish music in Summerschools and taking bansuri classes by the Ganges . She felt a magnetic pull from Ireland from her late teens and later lived in rural Donegal for many years, playing traditional music on flutes and lyre, and singing, bringing world music and traditional music to various community groups. Sam Irwin made her lyre and Sam Murray her wooden Irish flute. She loves folk music of all cultures, which makes her feel right at home with Faerydae, also for their funky rhythms!

She sings in a classical/jazzy womens choir, plays at the Irish and balkan sessions, plays for folk and spiritual dancers, loves to improvise in a folky way and make up songs and tunes on the spot.
olk artists she loves are for example the Incredible string band, Altan, Planxty, Parvathy Baul, and Sima Bina.
