For Olaf the interest in (Irish and Scottish) folk music began early, right after he started playing the violin at age 12. During his classical violin studies at the conservatory in Rotterdam he kept on playing Irish and Scottish folk and Medieval music. At the Summer Darkness Festival in Utrecht (2012) he saw and heard the folkband Faerydae, which raised his interest in worldmusic. He asked if he could join them, the rest is history……
His favorite artists as far as folk is concerned are f.e. Christy Moore, the High Kings and Loreena McKennit.
